As YHC splits his time between my day job, 1st Q at ATL F3, and being a weatherman, i hate to say i told you so, but, well I did tell you so. The weather was coolish, but it was a warm dampish cool and it did not stay cool for long. That did not stop 8 hardcharging, DRP swallowing studs, from shaking off the morning haze, and joining YHC for a return to normalcy.
Warm up: (all IC and X15, then X10 on the 2nd round)
- Good Mornings (x16)
- SSH
- Imperial Walkers
- Don Quixotes
- Low Slow Squats
- Newton’s Cradle
After the 1st we did a little F3 Yoga, followed by a short run from the flag, up to the school parking lot, where we did the 2nd set.
The Thang:
Time to roll. We moseyed out the back side of the school to the driveway, where we alernated various lunge walking sets, (forward and reverse) with some HRMs (15 OYO each time, 3 rounds total).
No time to waste, we moseyed over to the new Dunwoody Park, where we grouped off in 3s. While Partner 1 stayed home and did squats, and partner 3, made there way to the far corner where they did LBCs, partner 2 ran between the two, stopping half way for 5 HRMs. We went through this evolution 6 times for each partner. At the 4th set, we switched the LBCs to big boy situps. Now that we were all thoroughly soaked, we made our way, away from the park and back to the top of the DNC. We started with off 10 Decline Merkins (IC), then switched to 10 curb dips (IC) and then 10 Incline Merkins (IC) and finally 20 Calf Raises (OYO). Feeling that this was so much fun the 1s time, we (well YHC) decided we should do a 2nd round. Same as the 1st, except the Calf Raises were now x10 (IC).
With time running out, we made our way over to and down the DNC trail, all the way to the bottom, just before the bridge, made the turn and ran by the benches, and then back to the lower lot. What do you know, we have time for 4 more sets, and YHC had just the idea, 15 HRMs, followed by Squats (x15/IC), and Big Boy Situps (X15/IC) and finally Monkey Humpers (x10/IC). And that as they say, was that.
CoT:
Rum Runner took us out with some thoughtful words.
Naked Man Moleskin:
Announcements were brief. Reminder to hit the Q sheet early and often.
Reminder that our Monthly SLT is August 2nd (Location TBD)
Leon was the War Daddy which begs the question, where the heck are all the “old guys”?
Was great to be almost fully back in the saddle and getting stronger.
